Farmers across the country can now mark their calendars for August 2, 2025, as the much-awaited 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme will be disbursed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
“No more waiting now! The 20th instalment of PM-Kisan will reach your account directly from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on August 2, 2025. When you hear the message tone, know that the Kisan Samman amount has arrived in your account,” an official update shared on the scheme’s X handle read in Hindi.
A high-level meeting, chaired Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, was held on Wednesday to review the preparations for the event and to ensure that the benefit reaches the maximum number of farmers.
Chouhan urged farmers to actively participate in the August 2 event, stating that it is an opportunity to benefit from the scheme and also stay informed about agricultural development programmes.
Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a total of 53 development projects worth ₹2,248 crore during his visit to Varanasi.
Under PM-KISAN, eligible land-holding farmer families receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually, released in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 every four months via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Prime Minister Modi released the previous instalment on February 24, 2025, during an event in Bihar’s Bhagalpur. Over 9.8 crore farmers, including 2.41 crore female farmers, across the country benefited from it, receiving direct financial assistance exceeding ₹22,000 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
It was widely expected that the government would release the next instalment by June end in line with the four-month schedule, but delays left several farming households awaiting the next tranche.
The official confirmation of the August 2 disbursal has now provided clarity.
Ahead of the disbursal of the 20th instalment, eligible farming families should complete important tasks like e-KYC and land verification to receive the financial assistance.
