PM-KISAN, a central sector scheme, was launched in February 2019 by Prime Minister Modi to supplement the financial needs of land-holding farmers.

PM KISAN 20th instalment date: Farmers across the country are eagerly waiting for the 20th instalment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM KISAN), the direct benefit transfer scheme under which eligible farming family receives an annual benefit of ₹6,000 in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 every four months.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the previous instalment on February 24, 2025, during an event in Bihar’s Bhagalpur. Over 9.8 crore farmers, including 2.41 crore female farmers, across the country benefited from it, receiving direct financial assistance exceeding ₹22,000 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

It was widely expected that the government would release the next instalment by June end, four months after the disbursement of the 19th instalment. However, the farmers have yet to receive the amount in their bank accounts.

What is PM KISAN?

PM KISAN, a central sector scheme, was launched in February 2019 by Prime Minister Modi to supplement the financial needs of land-holding farmers. Under the scheme, a financial benefit of ₹6,000/- per year is transferred in three equal instalments into the Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of farmers through the DBT mode.

Over 5 lakh Common Service Centres (CSCs) have been onboarded to facilitate registrations and meet mandatory requirements.

When can the farmers expect to receive the next instalment?

Bihar BJP chief Dilip Kumar Jaiswal on Monday said that Prime Minister Modi will visit Motihari on July 18.

"On July 18, PM Modi will visit Bihar's Motihari. This will be the PM's 53rd visit to the state. PM Modi's visit to the state is for Viksit Bihar," Jaiswal told reporters.

Since PM Modi often releases PM KISAN instalments during public events, it is now widely speculated that the farmers could receive the next tranche of ₹2,000 on July 18. There has been no official confirmation from the government.

Ahead of the disbursal of the 20th instalment, eligible farming families should complete important tasks like e-KYC and land verification to receive the financial assistance.

They should also link their Aadhaar card to the bank account to ensure seamless transfer.
