The app, dedicated to the nation on January 28, clocked close to 14 million downloads since its rollout last month and is currently seeing over 1 lakh downloads daily, according to the UIDAI.

Nearly 3.57 lakh users have locked or unlocked their biometrics through the platform, while around 8 lakh residents have downloaded their e-Aadhaar.

The Aadhaar App is designed to provide Aadhaar Number Holders (ANH) with a secure, convenient and privacy-first way to carry, share, show and verify their digital identity.

It is available on both Android and Apple iOS platforms.

“The utility of the new App is only growing, and it is bringing Aadhaar services to residents’ fingertips,” UIDAI said in a statement.

The app also supports face verification for proof of presence, one-click biometric lock and unlock, viewing of authentication history, and QR-based contact cards for easy sharing of details.

Unlike earlier Aadhaar-based processes that often involved sharing a full Aadhaar number or photocopies, the new app enables selective sharing of credentials. Users can share only specific details depending on the requirement.

The app can be used for age verification under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act without sharing any additional data.

The app supports QR-based verification for multiple real-life scenarios.

It allows optional face verification, age verification for cinema ticket bookings, hospital admissions for visitors and attendants, verification of gig workers and service partners among many such use cases.

The authority is also building an offline verification ecosystem by onboarding entities to use Aadhaar App-based services.

Users can manage up to five Aadhaar profiles on a single device under the “One Family–One App” feature. Besides address changes, residents can now update their mobile numbers through the app, with more update services planned in the future..

“This huge adoption also reflects UIDAI’s continued commitment to leveraging technology for enhancing service delivery, improving user experience, and strengthening digital infrastructure,” the authority said.
