OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Go in India, a new low-cost subscription plan priced at ₹399 per month.

Artificial intelligence company OpenAI on Tuesday announced the launch of a new low-cost subscription tier, ChatGPT Go, in India, offering expanded access to its popular AI tools at ₹399 per month.

“We just launched ChatGPT Go in India, a new subscription tier that gives users in India more access to our most popular features: 10x higher message limits, 10x more image generations, 10x more file uploads, and 2x longer memory compared with our free tier,” Nick Turley, Vice President and Head of ChatGPT at OpenAI, said in a post on X.

The new plan also allows users to pay directly in Indian rupees and through UPI. The ChatGPT Go plan includes all the benefits of the free version along with extended access to GPT-5, the company’s flagship model.

Users will also be able to generate more images, upload and analyse additional files such as spreadsheets and documents, use advanced data analysis tools like Python more frequently, and maintain longer memory for personalised conversations.

It also unlocks access to projects, tasks, and custom GPTs that allow users to organise work, track progress, and build customised AI tools.

Turley said affordability has been a key demand from Indian users.

“Making ChatGPT more affordable has been a key ask from users! We’re rolling out Go in India first and will learn from feedback before expanding to other countries,” he added.

The company said subscriptions will be billed automatically on a monthly basis and can be cancelled anytime.

OpenAI clarified that the new plan is distinct from ChatGPT Plus, which is priced at ₹1,999 per month.

While the Go plan focuses on affordability and expanded access to core features, Plus is designed for advanced users and provides access to additional models such as GPT-4o, deep research capabilities, agent mode, and video creation through Sora.

ChatGPT Go, on the other hand, will remain geo-restricted to India for now.
