The Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh) has been approved under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), 1989 by the International Centre for Automotive Technology (iCAT), a government testing agency.

The certification has cleared the way for deliveries to begin.

According to the company, the Roadster X+ offers an industry-leading range of up to 500 km on a single charge, enabled by the high energy density and advanced thermal performance of its indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell technology.

The extended range is aimed at making electric motorcycling viable beyond metropolitan cities, including Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets where longer travel distances and limited charging infrastructure have slowed EV adoption.

“This government certification is a major milestone in our journey towards building end-to-end EV technology in India,” an Ola Electric spokesperson said. “With the Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh), we are delivering unmatched range along with superior performance, safety and reliability, powered entirely by our own cell and battery technology.”

With the certification of the Roadster X+, the company said it has expanded the deployment of its 4680 Bharat Cell platform across its electric two-wheeler portfolio. The same cell platform will also underpin Ola’s upcoming electric offerings under its vertically integrated strategy spanning cells, battery packs and vehicle platforms.

Shares of Ola Electric Mobility were trading at ₹35.84 apiece in the morning trade, up 1.16% from the previous close.

The announcement comes a couple of days after the company said it is scaling up deliveries of 4680 Bharat Cell-powered S1 Pro+ (5.2 kWh) vehicles across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana and Karnataka.

The EV manufacturer also commenced deliveries across Coimbatore, Kochi and Hyderabad, along with a continued ramp-up in Bengaluru, it said in a regulatory filing on Sunday. “The S1 Pro+ (5.2 kWh) is the first product powered by the company’s indigenously manufactured 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack, delivering more range, higher performance and enhanced safety,” the filing stated.
