The revised prices would be applicable for all varieties of milk sold by the federation, with the rate of the premium Santrupti Milk to rise to ₹57 a litre, whereas the basic double toned milk will be charged at ₹43 per litre.

The hike, second within a year's period, was announced at a press conference in Bengaluru by KMF Chairman Bhima Naik. The rates were last increased by ₹3 per litre in July 2023.

The latest revision in milk prices comes days after the Karnataka government raised tax on fuel, which led to petrol prices rising by ₹3 per litre and diesel by ₹3.5 a litre.

The KMF, while justifying the decision to raise the milk rates, said the company would be providing 50 ml extra in its per litre pack. This means that consumers would get 1.05 litre of milk, instead of 1 litre, for paying an additional ₹2.
