Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who also holds the finance portfolio, tabled his 11th state budget in the legislative assembly on Monday, announcing major infrastructure and industrial projects.
Pawar said Maharashtra’s new industrial policy will attract investments worth ₹40 lakh crore and generate 50 lakh jobs. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region is being developed as a growth hub and is projected to have a USD 1.5 trillion economy by 2047.
Domestic flights from Navi Mumbai International Airport will begin next month, with 85% of the work completed and trial runs successfully conducted.
A third airport for Mumbai is proposed near Vadhvan Port and will be operational by 2030.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train station will also be located near the port.
The night landing facility at Shirdi Airport will soon be operational, enhancing accessibility to the pilgrim destination.
The state government plans to develop 1,500 km of new roads and upgrade 7,000 km of existing roads to cemented roads.
Maharashtra will introduce a new health and senior citizens’ policy.
A memorial will be built in Agra to commemorate Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s escape from Mughal custody.
The Maharashtra government will celebrate ‘Marathi Bhasha Sanman Din’ on October 3 every year.
The Metro service will link Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport with Navi Mumbai International Airport.
Pawar announced that the Maharashtra government allocated ₹36,000 crore for the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme.
