The Israel-Iran war entered a new stage on Saturday midnight, after the US entered the Middle East conflict by bombing Iran’s three nuclear facilities. On June 22, the US conducted air strikes on three Iranian atomic facilities of Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, using B2 stealth bombers equipped with GBU 57, which is a massive ordinance operator.

In the post-attack speech and media release, Trump said, “Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the World’s number one sponsor of terror. Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Iran ,the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace.”

The attacks on Iran, came in as a surprise amid reports of de-escalation emerged over the weekend after reports said, Trump will decide on strikes on Iran in two weeks. Some media reports also said, Iran is ready for nuclear talks if the Israel stopped its agression.Previously, Trump also posted a threatening message for Iran’s supreme leader on US knowing his place of hiding and requested for unconditional surrender of Iran.

In the first public remarks after the US attacks, Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi accuses the US of breaching international law. “The United States, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations”, said Arghchi in social media post. He, further added, “ the events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences”.

According to defence experts, the escalated situation could fire up oil prices further above $80 per barrel as the region undegoes major conflict in coming days. The strait of Hormuz, which accounts for 30% of the global oil trade could see major blockade.
