Instagram down for some users; hundreds report issues on Downdetector

Photo-sharing platform Instagram experienced an outage on Wednesday morning, with hundreds of users reporting problems accessing the app, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.

Reports of disruptions began appearing on Downdetector at around 8 am, indicating potential issues affecting users of the service.

By 9:35 am, more than 600 incident reports had been logged on the platform.

Among those reporting problems, about 81% said they were facing issues with the Instagram mobile application, while around 12% reported difficulties accessing the website.

Downdetector tracks outages by aggregating status reports from multiple sources, including user-submitted errors, and typically flags an incident when the number of problem reports rises significantly above the usual level for that time of day.

Instagram’s parent company Meta Platforms has yet to respond to the outage reports.
