Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) on Thursday unveiled its much-anticipated CRETA Electric, the first localised electric SUV from the South Korean auto giant in India.
Inspired by Hyundai’s global Pixel design language, CRETA Electric features a pixelated graphic front grille with an integrated charging port and a pixelated graphic lower bumper.
Hyundai CRETA Electric has Active Air Flaps (AAF), designed to enhance airflow for improved cooling and aerodynamics. The SUV features R17 Aero Alloy Wheels paired with low rolling resistance (LRR) tyres for better efficiency and extended driving range.
CRETA Electric comes with two battery pack options. The 51.4 kWh long-range battery delivers a driving range of 473 km on a single charge and achieves a 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 7.9 seconds, while the 42 kWh battery pack offers a range of 390 km.
Charging options include rapid DC charging, which can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 58 minutes, and an 11 kW AC home charger that completes a full charge in about four hours.
To offer a tech-led driving experience, the Hyundai CRETA Electric SUV is equipped with Vehicle to Load (V2L) feature which allows the car to act as a portable power source, capable of charging external devices.
The i-Pedal technology enables one-pedal driving, allowing drivers to accelerate, decelerate, and even stop the car using just the accelerator pedal.
The Shift-by-Wire system provides intuitive gear control, while the Digital Key feature allows users to lock, unlock, and start the vehicle using their smartphone or smartwatch.
Hyundai CRETA Electric will be available in four variants – Executive, Smart, Premium and Excellence, with eight monotone and two dual-tone colour options, including three Matte colours. A standout option is the ocean blue metallic with a black roof, which adds a sophisticated and striking look to the lineup.
Commenting on the launch, Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer of HMIL, said, "The Hyundai CRETA Electric marks a significant milestone for HMIL as our first localised electric SUV."
"With the addition of this electric powertrain, we now have a CRETA for everyone. We are confident that the Hyundai CRETA Electric will set a new standard in quality for electric SUVs in India and will redefine the success of EVs in the country,” he added.
