The price cut follows the announcement of the revamped GST at the 56th GST Council meeting held on September 3, 2025.
Auto companies including Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M), Renault India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Tata Motors, Mercedes-Benz India, and Hyundai Motor India announced price cuts over the weekend to pass on the benefits of the GST rate reduction to customers.
Though Tata Motors, Hyundai Motor and the rest said the changes will be applicable from September 22, M&M rolled out the price changes with immediate effect from September 6.
The price cut follows the announcement of the revamped GST at the 56th GST Council meeting held on September 3, 2025. The GST Council approved limiting slabs to 5% and 18%, effective from September 22.
Hyundai Motor India on Sunday said it has reduced prices of its entire model range by up to ₹2.4 lakh. The company said the price cut ranging between ₹60,640 on the Verna to ₹2.4 lakh on the premium SUV Tucson will be applicable from September 22.
"This reform is not only a boost to the automotive industry but also a strong step towards empowering millions of customers by making personal mobility more affordable and accessible," said Hyundai Motor India Managing Director Unsoo Kim.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) reduced prices for its passenger vehicle range by up to ₹1.56 lakh with immediate effect on September 6 in order to pass on the GST rate cut benefit to customers.
The revised prices for all applicable ICE portfolios are effective from September 6, 2025, and will be transparently updated across dealerships and digital platforms, it added.

Tata Motors said it will pass on the full benefit of the GST reduction on its entire commercial vehicle range to customers, effective September 22, 2025, when the revised rates come into effect. The Mumbai-based auto major said prices of CV range would come down in the range of Rs 30,000 to Rs 4.65 lakh.
The company has already announced a price cut in its passenger vehicle portfolio.

Renault India slashed prices of its vehicles by up to ₹96,395 to pass. The revised pricing will be effective on all deliveries made on or after September 22, 2025, coinciding with the first day of Navratri, the automaker said in a statement.
However, customers can start booking their Renault car at the new prices immediately across all dealerships nationwide, it added.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor on September 6 reduced prices of its vehicles by up to ₹3.49 lakh to pass on the benefits of GST rate cut to customers. The revised prices will come into effect from September 22, 2025.
"As a transparent and customer-centric company, we are pleased to pass on these benefits to our customers," Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business & Profit Enhancement Varinder Wadhwa said in a statement.

Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz India also announced significant price cuts across its vehicle range. Under the new GST 2.0 framework, luxury vehicles are now taxed at a flat 40%, with the earlier 22% compensation cess being scrapped. The German automaker has lowered prices by as much as ₹11 lakh.
