Roshni Nadar made history as the first Indian woman in the top 10 wealthiest women globally.

Silicon Valley tycoons dominated the latest Hurun Global Rich List 2025, with American businessmen securing nine of the top 10 spots among the world’s wealthiest individuals. The lone exception was French fashion magnate Bernard Arnault, owner of LVMH, who took seventh position on the elite list.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk clinched the title of the world’s richest person, his net worth soaring by 82%, or $189 billion, to reach a staggering $420 billion. The surge comes amid Tesla’s continued dominance in the electric vehicle market and Musk’s growing influence in US politics under the Donald Trump administration.

Trailing Musk was Amazon founder Jeff Bezos with a net worth of $266 billion, followed by Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg at $242 billion.

Oracle’s Larry Ellison ranked fourth with $203 billion, while Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett rounded out the top five at $167 billion.

Alphabet co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin took the sixth and ninth spots, with $164 billion and $148 billion respectively.

Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer and Bill Gates secured eighth and tenth places, valued at $156 billion and $143 billion.

Arnault, the only non-American in the top 10, held steady at $157 billion.

Here’s Hurun’s top 10 global rich list:

  • Elon Musk, Tesla ($420 billion)
  • Jeff Bezos, Amazon ($266 billion)
  • Mark Zuckerberg, Meta ($242 billion)
  • Larry Ellison, Oracle ($203 billion)
  • Warren Buffett, Berkshire Hathway ($167 billion)
  • Larry Page, Alphabet ($164 billion)
  • Bernard Arnault, LMVH ($157 billion)
  • Steve Balmer, Microsoft ($156 billion)
  • Sergey Brin, Alphabet ($148 billion)
  • Bill Gates, Microsoft ($143 billion)

Indian business tycoon Mukesh Ambani dropped out of the elite top 10 after his wealth declined by ₹1 lakh crore from last year due to rising debt levels at Reliance Industries.

Reliance, a conglomerate with interests in energy, retail, and telecommunications, has faced challenges from slowing sales growth and investor concerns over its financial health as it shifts focus to digital platforms and renewable energy.

Reliance’s stock has underperformed India’s equity markets in 2024, slipping 1.5% compared to the Nifty 50 Index’s 14% gain. This disparity has led to the widest gap in over four years between analysts’ price targets and the stock’s current valuation, according to a Bloomberg report.

Despite the setback, Ambani retained his position as Asia’s richest person.

Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani emerged as the country’s biggest wealth gainer in absolute terms, adding nearly ₹1 lakh crore to his net worth, driven by the strong performance of his Adani Group’s infrastructure and energy businesses.

HCL chairperson Roshni Nadar achieved a historic milestone after her father Shiv Nadar’s transferred a 47% stake in the company. With a net worth of ₹3.5 lakh crore, she became the fifth richest woman globally and the first Indian woman to break into the top 10 wealthiest women.
