On November 13, when Coldplay announced a new show in Ahmedabad, fans were buzzing with excitement and as the hype around the concert grew so did the hotel prices.

The concert, to be held on January 25, follows Coldplay’s three back-to-back shows planned in Mumbai on January 18, 19 and 20, 2025.

In some cases, hotel prices have already crossed ₹50,000 per night, around the concert date.

Hotels are even cancelling bookings made at lower rates. A social media influencer took to the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) to share that a hotel near the Narendra Modi Stadium cancelled his ₹1,800 one-night booking just two minutes after the rock band announced their Ahmedabad concert.

“Booked a stay near Narendra Modi Stadium 2 minutes after Coldplay Ahmedabad show was announced. Just got an email saying the booking is cancelled. I booked 1-night stay at 1800/-. Now watch this cost touch 18000/- within a few hours,” wrote Samarth, a content creator on X.

Another user took to X saying, “Hotel prices in Ahmedabad have surged 4x ahead of the #Coldpay concert scheduled for January.”

An X user said “Thought I’ll book a hotel room and keep just in case I managed to get the tickets for Coldplay in Ahmedabad. The prices just skyrocketed.”

Coldplay tickets went live on Saturday, November 16 at 12 pm IST.

During the Mumbai concert ticket booking in September, more than 13 million fans lined up in a virtual queue to purchase tickets on BookMyShow. Allegedly, there had been unauthorised presale of the ticket. Although official ticket prices ranged from ₹2,500 to ₹35,000, some were reportedly being sold for a price as high as ₹3 lakh.
