The new opt-in feature allows users to ask questions about their finances using text or voice and receive personalised insights based on their Google Pay transaction history and credit report data.

According to the company, Ask Google Pay can help users understand spending patterns, get savings tips, explore suitable financial products, and learn about concepts such as systematic investment plans (SIPs), credit scores, compounding interest and tax regimes.

The feature supports 10 Indian languages and is designed to answer financial queries in a conversational format.

Google said the AI assistant provides financial information and insights for educational purposes only, adding that users' financial data remains under their control.

The company also announced the launch of the Google Pay Flex SBI Card in partnership with SBI Card, expanding its Flex credit offering introduced earlier this year.

Built on the RuPay network, the card can be applied for directly through the Google Pay app without physical paperwork. It also supports transactions on both RuPay and Visa payment networks.

Users will earn reward points called "Stars", with one Star equivalent to ₹1, redeemable on Flex transactions.

The card also offers an option to convert the latest outstanding credit card bill into equated monthly instalments (EMIs).

Google said Flex cardholders will soon become eligible for a 50% discount for one year on the Google AI Plus plan, along with additional reward stars on purchases and discounts on Google Pixel smartphones.

“These launches are another step forward in our commitment to providing secure and accessible financial tools directly to every Indian,” Google said.
