According to the data, sales of electric commercial vehicles (eCVs) rose 54.2% to 15,606 units in 2025 from 10,123 units a year earlier. The electric two-wheeler sales during the reporting period increased 11.36% to 12,79,951 units from 11,49,416 units in the year-ago period. Similarly, the e-three-wheeler retail sales also grew by 15.39% to 7,97,733 units in 2025 against 6,91,313 units sold in 2024.

FADA president CS Vigneshwar has stated that the year 2025 clearly reinforces that India's electrification journey is no longer a pilot; it is scaling, segment by segment. On the strength of robust ground-level adoption, electric two-wheelers retailed around 12.80 lakh retails (+11.36% YoY) with an EV share of 6.3%, while electric passenger vehicles grew sharply to 1,76,817 units (+77.04% YoY), taking EV share to around 4% from 2.4% last year.

He stressed the need for a coordinated push on charging infrastructure, policy continuity, and faster, more inclusive retail financing so that EV adoption becomes even more mainstream and pan-India.

At the manufacturer level, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle maintained the top position in passenger EV sales for December by selling 6,906 units, followed by JSW MG Motors at 3,557 and Mahindra Electric at 3,066 units. Similarly, in the two-wheeler space, TVS Motors remained top contender despite 17% MoM drop in sales at 25,039 units, followed by Bajaj Auto at 18,790 units, Ather Energy at 17,052 units, inching closer for 2nd position.
