DD in AI era: Doordarshan unveils two new anchors, can speak up to 50 languages. Details here

State-run broadcaster Doordarshan on Friday said it is all set to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) anchors on DD Kisan to revolutionise information and news related to agriculture. With this, DD Kisan will become India's first government TV channel to introduce AI anchors.

The government said AI Krish and AI Bhoomi, which will work exactly like humans, can read news 24 hours a day for 365 days, and they can speak in fifty languages.

"The farmer viewers will be able to see these anchors in all the states of the country from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu and from Gujarat to Arunachal, these AI anchors will provide every necessary information about agricultural research happening in the country and global level, trends in agriculture mandis, changes in the weather or any other information of government scheme," stated a release issued by PIB, the government’s communication arm.

DD Kisan, established on May 26, 2015, is a dedicated channel to keep farmers updated about changes in weather and global and local markets.

"DD Kisan channel is also working to bring forward the efforts of progressive farmers to all the people, with the aim of serving the agricultural and rural community in the country and working towards creating an environment of holistic development by educating them," the government said.

DD Kisan channel promotes a broad approach to agriculture, comprising crop cultivation, animal farming, and horticulture.
