Firoz Mistry and Zahan Mistry, the two sons of late business magnate Cyrus Mistry, were listed as India’s richest billionaires under the age of 30 in the recently released Forbes Billionaires Index 2024.

Similar to a bulk of young billionaires in the Forbes global list, the wealth of the Mistry scions is largely on account of inheritance. Cumulatively, their net worth is $9.8 billion, with the wealth of each of the brothers estimated at $4.9 billion.

Here are five things to know about Firoz and Zahan Mistry:

  • Firoz and Zahan are both sons of Cyrus Mistry, former chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of the salt-to-software conglomerate Tata Group. Firoz is aged 27, whereas Zahan is 25 years old.
  • Following the death of their father in a road accident in 2022, Firoz and Zahan inherited a stake of 18.4% each in Tata Sons.
  • Both the brothers also hold a 25% stake each in the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, which is chaired by their uncle Shapoor Mistry.
  • Firoz and Zahan have attained education abroad. While Zahan is an alumnus of Yale University, Firoz studied at the University of Warwick.
  • While both of them are currently based in Mumbai, where the business operations of their family are centred, they hold citizenship of Ireland.

Meanwhile, the youngest billionaire in the Forbes list is Livia Voigt, a 19-year-old Brazilian girl, whose net worth stands at $1.1 billion. She is the granddaughter of Werner Ricargo Voigt who co-founded Latin America’s largest electric motor manufacturer WEG. At the second spot is Italy’s Clement Del Vecchio, who is two months older than her, and has a net worth of $4.8 billion. He belongs to the family that founded EssilorLuxottica, the world’s largest eyeglasses manufacturer.
