ChatGPT hit by global outage; OpenAI says 'root cause identified, working to resolve it'

OpenAI is partnering with physicians and experts under a 120-day plan to strengthen safety, improve emergency access, and use advanced “reasoning models” to better handle distress situations.

ChatGPT, the popular artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI, went down for several users globally on Tuesday.

Outage tracking platform Downdetector recorded a sharp rise in complaints.

According to Downdetector, users began reporting disruptions around 11 am, and the reports peaked at 12:51 pm with 557 complaints.

On its website, OpenAI acknowledged the problem, saying, “We’re currently experiencing issues.”

In a status update, the company said, “ChatGPT Not Displaying Responses. We have identified the root cause and are working to resolve it.”

The extent of the disruption and the number of users impacted globally were not immediately clear.
