ChatGPT back online after global outage: Issue with accessing Sam Altman-led OpenAI chatbot resolved

ChatGPT down: Generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT was down globally, stopping users from using the Sam Altman-led platform.

Taking to X, OpenAI said, "We're experiencing an outage right now. We have identified the issue and are working to roll out a fix. Sorry and we'll keep you updated!"

What happened on visiting chatgpt.com?

When accessing chatgpt.com, a white screen appeared with the message "ChatGPT is currently unavailable."

"We have identified the issue and are working to roll out a fix," it said.

Users expressed their frustration on various social media platforms about the ChatGPT outage.

"#ChatGPT is down. Looks like everyone will have to finish their assignments the old fashioned way," a user said on X.

Another added, "BREAKING: ChatGPT is down globally. Productivity is about to take a nose dive everywhere."

A person said, "ChatGPT went down when I finally started studying for my exam."

"Everyone searching on twitter to find if chatgpt is down or not... and its actually DOWN!!," the fourth person posted.

This is not the first time that ChatGPT has faced a global outage. Last month, it went down briefly.

Taking to X, Sam Altman had said, "Chatgpt went down for 30 mins today :( we are much, much better at reliability than we used to be, but clearly more work in front of us. (it is now the 8th biggest website in the world according to similarweb--we have had a lot of work to do these past two years!)"

"Sorry for the inconvenience and we will get back to work," he added.
