BYD Sealion 7 gets costlier in India; check updated prices, range and performance

Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD has raised the price of its premium variant of electric SUV, Sealion 7, in India with effect from January 1, 2026, the company said on Friday, citing evolving cost dynamics.

Customers who had booked the vehicle on or before December 31, 2025 will continue to get deliveries at the earlier ex-showroom prices.

The premium variant will now cost ₹49.4 lakh, up from ₹48.9 lakh (ex-showroom) previously, it added.

The company, however, said the price of the BYD Sealion 7 prices Performance variant will remain unchanged at ₹54.9 lakh.

"The updated pricing reflects the evolving cost dynamics while continuing to offer customers a compelling premium electric SUV proposition," Rajeev Chauhan, head of electric passenger vehicle business at BYD India, said.

The company said the model has crossed sales of over 2,000 units in India since its unveiling at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.

“The BYD Sealion 7 has struck a chord with customers across India,” Chauhan said. "As we continue expanding our dealership network and enhancing customer touchpoints, the BYD SEALION 7 will remain a key pillar of BYD India’s commitment to offering advanced, sustainable, and high-performance electric mobility solutions.”

The fully electric SUV is offered with an 82.56 kWh battery pack in Premium and Performance trims. The Performance variant accelerates from 0–100 kmph in 4.5 seconds, while the Premium variant achieves the same in 6.7 seconds.

The model offers a claimed range of up to 542 km in the Performance trim and 567 km in the Premium variant.

BYD said the Sealion 7 is built on its Cell-to-Body (CTB) architecture and uses the Blade Battery as a structural component. The vehicle has a 5-star NCAP safety rating.

BYD India currently operates 47 dealerships across 40 cities and said it will continue to strengthen its presence as part of its strategy to expand electric mobility solutions in the country.
