BSNL's Q1 service revenue rises 10% to ₹4,418 crore: Scindia

State-owned telecom firm BSNL's revenue from its three core business segments grew 10% year-on-year to ₹4,418 crore in the April-June quarter of the current fiscal, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Tuesday.

Reviewing the company's first-quarter performance at the Strategic Review and Planning Meet (SRPM) here, Scindia said Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) had made a strong start to FY2026-27, driven by growth in its enterprise, consumer mobility and consumer fixed access businesses.

"A strong start to Q1 FY 2026-27, with revenue from our 3 core business engines - Consumer Fixed Access (CFA), Enterprise Business (EB) and Consumer Mobility (CM) - growing by 10% to ₹4,418 crore from ₹4,017 crore in the corresponding period last year," Scindia said in a post on X.

According to provisional figures reviewed at the meeting, BSNL is set to post double-digit growth in operating revenue, or revenue from services, in the first quarter compared with the year-ago period.

The Enterprise Business segment emerged as the fastest-growing vertical, registering a provisional 19% year-on-year growth. Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Assam circles were among the top performers in the segment.

The Consumer Mobility business recorded provisional revenue growth of 8% over the corresponding quarter last year, with Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand circles exceeding their quarterly targets.

The Consumer Fixed Access business maintained stable revenue, while its subscriber base posted marginal growth. Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh (West) and Karnataka circles recorded strong performances.

Scindia said BSNL's focus remained on improving customer experience through higher uptime of optical line terminals (OLTs) and base transceiver stations (BTSs), lower mean time to repair (MTTR) and better service quality.

The meeting also reviewed key operational parameters, including network availability and quality of service, alongside the company's financial performance.

Six telecom circles -- Punjab, Haryana, Kerala, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Odisha -- were recognised for their performance during the quarter.

The review meeting was attended by Minister of State for Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Telecom Secretary Amit Agarwal, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director A Robert J Ravi, senior Department of Telecommunications officials and BSNL's circle heads.
