Bank holidays in April 2024: On account of various festivals such as Eid al-Fitr, Jamat-ul-Vida, Ram Navami, Gudhi Padwa, Bohag Bigu, Ugadi, first Navratri, and Baisakhi, banks will remain closed for around 14 days in the upcoming month. The closure dates includes the regular offs on Sundays, and the first and fourth Saturdays.
Most banks will remain closed on April 1 for yearly account closure.
Bank holidays in April 2024: An array of festivals will be observed in the upcoming month, which will lead to closure of banks and other institutions on the dates that have been notified as public holidays. Public and private sector lenders will remain closed for a total of 14 days in April 2024, on account of the various public holidays, along with the Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. The date of closures, however, will differ state-wise, as some states or union territories (UTs) have notified a public holiday for some of the festivals, whereas others have not.
In view of the public holidays, bank customers are required to plan their visits to their local branches accordingly, after checking whether a holiday has been notified in their respective state or UT. The cumulative number of holidays in April, at 14, is the same as recorded in the preceding month of March.
Most lenders will remain closed on the first day of the upcoming month for yearly account closure. The month will also witness several major festivals, which have been notified as bank holidays in a number of states and UTs. The list of such public holidays includes Gudhi Padwa/Ugadi Festival/Telugu New Year's Day/Sajibu Nongmapanba (Cheiraoba)/1st Navratra, Shree Ram Navami (Chaite Dasain), Garia Puja, Babu Jagjivan Ram’s Birthday/Jumat-ul-Vida, Ramzan-Id (EId-Ul-Fitr), Bohag Bihu/Cheiraoba/Baisakhi/Biju Festival, and Bohag Bihu/Himachal Day.
While the bank branches will remain closed on account of the above festivals in the respective states, online banking services will remain unaffected. Customer care, ATM and phone banking services will also remain unhindered.
