Bank holidays in August 2024: A total of 13 bank holidays, including Independence Day, will be observed in August 2024, as per the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI's) holiday calendar. The banks will be closed for state and national holidays as well as regular second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays.

In July, public and private lenders remained closed for Beh Dienkhlam, MHIP Day, Kang, Harela, Drukpa Tshe-zi, Muharram, (Ashura) and U Tirot Sing Day,

Bank holidays in August 2024

Banks will be closed for Ker Puja, Tendog Lho Rum Faat, Patriot's Day, Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan, Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi and Janmashtami in the month of August.

Bank account holders should plan visits to branches accordingly to avoid any inconvenience. Before heading to a bank, they are advised to check if their state or union territory has notified a holiday.

State-wise list of bank holidays in August 2024

  • August 3: A bank holiday will be observed in Tripura for Ker Puja.
  • August 4: Sunday
  • August 8: Banks will be closed in Sikkim to mark Tendong Lho Rum Faat.
  • August 10: Second Saturday
  • August 11: Sunday
  • August 13: Patriots' Day is an official holiday in Manipur.
  • August 15: Banks will remain shut nationwide for Independence Day.
  • August 18: Sunday
  • August 19: Rakhsa Badha will be observed in states of Gujarat, Tripura, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.
  • August 20: Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi is a public holiday in Kerala.
  • August 24: Fourth Saturday
  • August 25: Sunday
  • August 26: Banks will remain closed in Odisha, Gujarat, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Srinagar and Himachal Pradesh for Krishna Jayanti or Janmashtami.

Online banking, ATM and UPI services will remain unaffected on bank holidays.
