The GCMMF stated in a statement that the ₹2 per litre increase translates to a 3%- 4% rise in maximum retail price (MRP), which is much lower than average food inflation.

Why are Amul's fresh milk prices revised?

"This price hike is being done due to an increase in the overall cost of operations and production of milk. Our member unions have also increased farmer's [milk procurement] price approximately by 6-8% over the last year," the GCMMF said.
