Aadhaar card update: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for updating Aadhaar card details for free. Users can now make changes without any cost till September 14, 2024.

Initially set until June 14, 2023, after UIDAI had announced a three-month free Aadhaar update drive in March. Since then, the deadline has been extended several times.

The campaign targets citizens who received their Aadhaar a decade ago and have not yet updated it. Aadhaar holders can take advantage of this opportunity by updating their proof of identity and address on the myAadhaar portal. The standard fee for updating Aadhaar at physical centres is ₹50.

How to update Aadhaar details online:

  • Visit Aadhaar Self-Service portal https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
  • Log in using Aadhaar number and captcha
  • You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number for authentication
  • Review the existing details by going to the documents update section
  • From the drop-down list, select documents to update
  • Then, upload the scanned copies of the original documents
  • Click on the submit button.

How to find an offline Aadhaar centre?

  • To locate the physical Addhar centre, visit https://bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in/aadhaar/
  • Click on the 'Centres Nearby' tab.
  • Add your location details to see nearby Aadhaar centres.
  • You can also search Aadhaar centres by using the pin code.

Aadhaar free update: Documents needed

  • Documents for identity proof and address: Voter ID, ration card, kisan photo passbook, passport, government-issued ID and certificate having address, as well as a certificate of disability.

  • Documents for proof of identity: Driving licence, PAN card, school mark sheet, school leaving certificate (with photo), government-issued ID, and freedom fighter photo ID.

  • Documents for proof of address: Utility bills, such as water/electricity/gas bills (last three months), bank or post office passbooks, property tax receipts, rent/lease/leave and license agreements, and medical insurance policies.
