Manufacturing output rose 8.0% during the month, while mining production increased 5.4%, helped by the end of the monsoon season and higher output of metallic minerals such as iron ore.

Electricity generation, however, contracted 1.5%, according to the quick estimates released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

The overall Index of Industrial Production (IIP) stood at 158.0 in November 2025, compared with 148.1 in the corresponding month a year ago.

In October 2025, industrial production had grown just 0.4%, as per quick estimates.

Within manufacturing, 20 of the 23 industry groups at the two-digit level of the National Industrial Classification recorded positive growth over November 2024. The top contributors were basic metals (10.2%), pharmaceuticals, medicinal chemical and botanical products (10.5%), and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (11.9%).

By use-based classification, capital goods output rose 10.4%, infrastructure and construction goods grew 12.1%, intermediate goods increased 7.3%, consumer durables expanded 10.3%, and consumer non-durables were up 7.3%. Primary goods output grew at a relatively modest 2.0%.

The ministry said infrastructure and construction goods, intermediate goods and consumer non-durables were the biggest contributors to overall IIP growth during the month.

The next IIP data, for December 2025, is scheduled to be released on January 28, 2026.
