From the net additions of around 21 lakh, the EPFO added 9.79 lakh new subscribers in July 2025.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) recorded a net addition of 21.04 lakh members, marking a growth of 5.5% year-on-year (YoY) against July 2024, according to provisional payroll data released by the PF organisation.

“The year-on-year analysis reveals a growth of 5.55% in net payroll additions compared to July 2024, signifying increased employment opportunities and heightened awareness of employee benefits, bolstered by EPFO’s effective outreach initiatives,” the Ministry of Labour & Employment said in a release on September 23.

However, the growth in July is lower when compared to the 21.89 lakh additions recorded in June this year. In June 2025, the EPFO recorded its highest-ever net addition of members.

The net payroll addition for this age group was 9.13 lakh in July, marking a growth of 4.09% YoY. “This is in consonance with the earlier trend, which indicates that most individuals joining the organized workforce are youth, primarily first-time job seekers,” the release said.

Nearly 16.43 lakh members, who exited previously, rejoined the EPFO in July 2025, up 12.12% YoY.

“These members switched their jobs and re-joined the establishments covered under the ambit of EPFO and opted to transfer their accumulations instead of applying for final settlement, thus safeguarding long-term financial well-being and extending their social security protection,” it said.

“The growth in female member additions is indicative of a broader shift towards a more inclusive and diverse workforce,” the release said.

“The states/UTs of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh individually added more than 5% of the total net payroll during the month,” the release stated.
