The Tom Ford leather jacket, dubbed the "Jensen Jacket", has become closely associated with Huang, much like Apple co-founder Steve Jobs' black turtleneck.

According to the auction catalogue, Huang wore the jacket for more than a decade during Nvidia's product launches, developer conferences and major AI announcements.

The auction house estimates that the jacket will fetch $40,000 to $60,000.

Sotheby's described the jacket as "a symbol of his leadership style" and "a defining chapter in technological history", saying it had become an instantly recognisable emblem of the Nvidia chief's public persona.

The jacket has been photo-matched by PSA to Huang wearing it at Hon Hai Tech Day in Taipei on October 18, 2023, the catalogue said.

The autograph on the item has been authenticated by James Spence Authentication, according to Sotheby’s.

“More than just a garment however, this jacket has transcended fashion to become an instantly recognizable emblem, synonymous with a visionary leader and a defining chapter in technological history,” the auction house said.

The auction has been organised as a philanthropic initiative by Long Journey Ventures. The proceeds will benefit the Edge Institute, a non-profit organisation that supports young innovators through fellowships, grants and residencies.

The funds will be used to support programmes aimed at fostering collaboration among people working at the intersection of technology, science, culture and society, according to the auction listing.
