Senior citizens looking for more than a regular savings account have a new option from HDFC Bank. The bank has launched the Specialé Senior Citizen Savings Account, a premium offering that combines banking services with healthcare, insurance and lifestyle benefits.

From complimentary doorstep banking and cyber fraud cover to hospitalisation benefits and medical discounts, the account is aimed at customers aged 60 years and above.

What does HDFC Bank Specialé Senior Citizen Savings Account offer?

Some of the key features include complimentary doorstep banking services such as cash and cheque pickup, cyber insurance cover of up to ₹1.5 lakh, hospitalisation benefits of up to ₹50,000, and discounts on medicines, doctor consultations and diagnostic tests.

Customers also receive vouchers worth ₹1,000 from popular brands and a personalised Platinum Debit Card with benefits such as domestic airport lounge access and accident insurance.

The account also offers zero charges on several banking services, including cash transactions, cheque books, digital fund transfers and the first-year locker fee. Customers can choose to maintain a quarterly average balance of ₹1 lakh or a fixed deposit of at least ₹4 lakh (minimum tenure of one year and one day). Eligible account holders can also avail of higher interest rates on fixed deposits up to ₹5 crore, along with Demat account and brokerage benefits.

How is it different from HDFC Bank's existing Senior Citizen Savings Account?

HDFC Bank already offers a Senior Citizen Savings Account with benefits such as preferential fixed deposit rates and a senior citizen debit card. The new Specialé Senior Citizen Savings Account includes cyber fraud insurance of up to ₹1.5 lakh, hospitalisation benefits, complimentary doorstep banking, healthcare discounts, welcome vouchers and enhanced debit card privileges. These benefits are not available with the bank's existing Senior Citizen Savings Account.

Customers need to maintain a quarterly average balance of ₹1 lakh or a fixed deposit of at least ₹4 lakh to be eligible for the account.

Who can open HDFC Bank Specialé Senior Citizen Savings Account?

The account can be opened by resident Indians aged 60 years or above through HDFC Bank's digital channels or by visiting a branch.
