Gold and silver prices rebound after recent losses on October 15. Check 24K, 22K gold and silver rates, and five things festival shoppers should know.

For festival shoppers, the practical priority is to set a budget, compare the final bill and verify purity.
Gold and silver prices rebounded in early trade on Thursday, October 15, after falling in the previous session, putting precious metals back in focus as consumers prepare for festive purchases.
Gold and silver prices rebounded on Thursday, October 15, according to India Bullion Rates, with gold rising 0.99% to ₹1,47,540 per 10 grams and silver gaining 0.50% to ₹2,09,380 per kg. The recovery comes after recent declines in precious-metal prices, bringing gold and silver back into focus as consumers prepare for festive-season purchases.
24-carat gold: ₹1,47,680 per 10 grams, up ₹1,590 or 1.09%.
22-carat gold: ₹1,35,373 per 10 grams.
18-carat gold: ₹1,10,760 per 10 grams.
Silver: ₹2,09,060 per kg, up ₹720 or 0.35%.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures for December 4 delivery rose 1.22% to ₹1,47,626 per 10 grams at the time of writing, while silver futures gained 0.66% to trade near ₹2.10 lakh per kg.
At the same time, US inflation data and expectations about the Federal Reserve's interest-rate decisions have kept markets volatile.
Currency movements, geopolitical developments and domestic demand can also affect gold prices in India.
Gold's recovery follows a recent decline, but one session's gains do not establish whether prices will continue rising or fall again. Consumers should avoid treating daily market movements as a reliable guide to the next price move.
The displayed gold rate is not the total purchase cost. Making charges, applicable GST and other disclosed charges can affect the final amount. Compare itemised quotations for similar jewellery before making a purchase.
Check the purity marking and applicable BIS hallmark and HUID details. Ask for a proper invoice that records the jewellery's weight, purity and price.
If exchanging old jewellery, ask how the jeweller calculates its value, including purity testing, stone deductions and any other applicable deductions. Compare the net amount offered by more than one retailer where possible.
Jewellery serves a personal purpose, but making charges and resale deductions can reduce the amount recovered when it is sold. Investors considering gold as part of a portfolio should separately evaluate financial products, their costs, liquidity, taxation and risks.
For festival shoppers, the practical priority is to set a budget, compare the final bill and verify purity.
