Due to the continuing geopolitical uncertainty in West Asia and concerns over a possible interest rate hike by the US Federal Reserve, gold prices have been moving in a narrow range for the past few months. Nonetheless after the Fed maintained status quo in its latest FOMC meeting, gold showed some recovery.

Factors influencing gold rate in India today

Tracking gains in the international bullion market, gold prices traded in the green on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX). At around 10:05 am, gold futures for August delivery traded higher by 0.62% or ₹875 at ₹1,41,970 per 10 gm.

The precious yellow metal is drawing support from heightened uncertainty over the West Asia conflict. US President Donald Trump stated that negotiations with Iran were underway, warning that it was the last opportunity for Tehran to reach a deal and end the five-month-long conflict.

Nevertheless, Iran denied Trump's claims, saying that no negotiations were underway or planned.

The conflicting signals boosted safe-haven demand, lifting gold prices.

Alongside, market participants are keeping track of a slew of US jobs reports, including the job openings data, the ADP private employment report, and the non-farm payrolls data due this week. The data will offer fresh insights into the strength of the US economy and the Federal Reserve's likely interest rate path.

A better-than-anticipated labour market report could strengthen the case for another interest rate hike, weighing on gold's appeal due to its non-interest-yielding nature.

In the near term, gold prices will be driven by the upcoming US employment data, the Federal Reserve's guidance on the interest rate path, and fresh developments in West Asia.
