The Dow Jones futures were trading 0.18% lower at 52,346 points ahead of the opening bell on Wednesday, July 22, indicating a more than 120-point higher opening, with investors focused on the mixed global market prices.
Investing.com data also showed that the S&P 500 futures were trading 0.36% lower at 7,518.50 points ahead of the Wall Street open on July 22, indicating a flat opening when compared to the previous stock market close levels.
While the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 index futures were trading 0.93% lower at 29,042 points, potentially indicating an over 100-point gap-down opening on Wednesday’s trading session, in comparison to the previous market close.
Key focus of investors will remain on elevated crude oil prices near $95 per barrel, US attacks on Iran, and on monitoring any potential signs or risk of a second round of global trade disruption due to the recent escalations in West Asia.
US equity markets ended their three-day losing streak on Tuesday, July 21, as investors focused on the rebound in chipmaking and AI-linked tech stocks along with the quarterly earnings of companies.
MarketWatch data showed that the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.74% higher at 52,224.64 points after Tuesday’s trading session, compared to 51,839.26 points at the previous US market close.
The S&P 500 index closed 0.89% higher at 7,509.20 points after the trading session on July 21, compared to 7,443.28 points at the previous stock market close, according to the exchange data.
While the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 index rallied on Tuesday’s trading session, closing 1.93% higher at 29,155.18 points, compared to 28,604.23 points at the previous US stock market close.
These companies, along with several others, are set to announce their April to June quarter earnings on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
Fears of a second round of potential global oil supply chain disruption weighed down market sentiment among commodity market investors, in turn fuelling oil prices to a recent high of $95.47 per barrel (bbl) on Wednesday, July 22.
Investing.com data showed that the global benchmark, Brent crude oil prices, surged 4.9% to its intraday high of $95.47 per bbl on July 22, compared to $91.01 per bbl at the previous commodity market close.
At 7:29 pm (IST), Brent crude prices were trading 3.18% higher at $93.90 per bbl on Wednesday’s market, when compared to the previous market close.
