The US markets are heading for a mega IPO of a leading Artificial Intelligence platform, Anthropic. The US markets have seen massive returns since early 2025 and 2026, largely driven by AI and ecosystem companies. The semiconductor focused index, SOX, has rallied 58% YTD and at the nearly doubled at its peak touched in July 2026.
Investor apprehensions have also grown during the same time on the overheated valuations of these AI companies as they now contribute significantly to the overall US market rally. In addition, concerns over rising inflation also soured the investor sentiment for the AI stocks as they are highly capital intensive and require a consistent flow of capital to meetup the rising demand.
Chip companies sit at the centre of this ecosystem and have witnessed stellar demand and subsequent growth in their earnings as well. However, the other eco-system players have yet to deliver a meaningful outcome from their investments in the AI space. AI hyperscalers like Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet, SpaceX and Meta have invested heavily in AI-infrastructure, building out massive data centre capacities to meet the rising computing demand.
On the other hand, AI companies like Open AI and Anthropic which lease out these capacities and use the chips to run their platform are also yet to see meaningful growth in their earnings. In scenario like this where rising skepticism over AI theme’s overheated valuations trouble investor confidence, Anthropic IPO could face some resistance from investors.
The company announced filing S-1 document with the SEC and the exchanges to list on the bourses in November itself. The other details are yet to be announced by the company, but with its listing, it is going to hit many new milestones. Here are some of the key milestones Anthropic IPO will achieve.
Anthropic will become the first foundational model making company to list on the bourses. In the entire AI-ecosystem. The large-language model that run the artificial intelligence platforms like claude, ChatGPT or gemini are the brains of this AI-ecosytem and Anthropic will be the first company to do so. Alphabet, which has its own foundational model called Gemini is a part of large business segment, and the ChatGPT parent firm OpenAI is still yet to file for its public offering, making Anthropic world’s first generative AI foundational company to go public.
After the latest listing of SpaceX IPO, which raised record $86 billion in its public issue, Anthropic is set to break its record. Anthropic is reportedly set to raise $100 billion from the public offer with an estimated valuation of $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion, placing it among the top 10 companies in the US.
The massive valuation is also expected to test the investor’s risk appetite as AI-safety concerns and and a unanimous call to scale down on fresh developments on AI-models could hurt financial viability of these generative AI companies.
According to the media reports, Anthropic is expected to raise $100 billion at $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion valuation. This comes after the company raised its last round at $965 billion. This will be another milestone, achieved by the company to more than double its valuation in very short period of time. If the public issue goes successful, it will also surpass OpenAI’s valuation of $865 billion by double margin.
The sharp rise in valuation is primarily due to its exponential growth in the revenue for the first half 2026 among many other factors. Anthropic posted a revenue of $16.1 billion for H1 of 2026, which is 1,368% higher than the previous year. Anthropic recorded total revenue of $1.2 billion in the first hald of 2025.Anthropic generated $4.6 billion in revenue for 2025 vs $13.1 billion by OpenAI. However, Anthropic surpassed the OpenAI’s entire year’s revenue in the first hald of this year itself, helping it demand the premium valuation.
The record surge in revenue and subsequent premium valuation will be a test for Anthropic as it continues to post loss at the bottomline level. Besides this, the company highlighted key risks to the company’s business outcome, which include, adverse use of AI and its existential threat to humanity, loss of revenue due to postponement in development of new models and the broad industry call to scale down the advancement in AI models.
Besides these, rising computing costs, elevated interest rates, and concerns on the overheated valuations of tech and chip companies will weigh on the sentiment of investors. With these major risks and key, will Anthropic IPO sail through the turbulent water of public markets, needs to be closely watched.
