SUMMARY

Today’s weakness remained limited with the benchmark indices only, as the NIFTY Midcap 100 index traded over 200 points higher at the intraday highs. Similarly, the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index recouped all the previous day's losses to trade 1.1% higher on Thursday afternoon.

Indian benchmark indices post a lacklustre performance on Thursday afternoon. The benchmark indices pare all the gains made in the opening session to trade in the red near the flat line. NIFTY50 briefly crossed the 24,000 psychological mark, hitting an intraday high of 24,025, but currently swung back to the previous day’s close near 23,914 levels. The crude oil price remained steady near $95 per barrel on Thursday after rallying almost 15% in six trading sessions. The elevated crude oil prices and surging bond yields are weighing on investor sentiment. However, foreign institutional investors have shown a smart recovery in their buying spree after selling more at the month-end.
