Stock market holiday on June 26: Are NSE and BSE open or shut on Muharram? Check details

The MCX will observe partial closure on Friday, June 26, for Muharram. While it will be closed for its morning session from 9 am to 5 pm, it will reopen for the evening session from 5 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm.

Stock Market Holiday on June 26: The Indian stock exchanges, including the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE, will remain closed on Friday, June 26, on the occasion of Muharram.

The bourses will reopen for normal trading on Monday, June 29, following a long weekend.

Trading holiday in September

There are no stock market holidays in the months of July and August. Both the bourses will observe a holiday on Monday, September 14, for Ganesh Chaturthi.

Trading holidays in October

Following that, the markets will remain closed on Friday, October 2, for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and on Tuesday, October 20, on the occasion of Dussehra.

Holidays in September and December

Similarly, the bourses will observe two holidays in November, one on the 10th for Diwali-Balipratipada and the 24th on the occasion of Prakash Gurpurb Sri Guru Nanak Dev.

Notably, while November 8 is a stock market holiday on account of Diwali Laxmi Pujan, Muhurat trading will be conducted on that day.

“Timings of Muhurat Trading shall be notified subsequently through a circular,” NSE said.

The final holiday of the 2026 calendar year will be observed on Friday, December 25, on account of Christmas.

Is MCX open or closed for Muharram?

Furthermore, the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) will observe partial closure on Friday, June 26.

While the domestic commodity exchange will be closed for its morning session from 9 am to 5 pm, it will reopen for its evening session from 5 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm.

Bank holidays for Muharram

Banks across all the major Indian cities, except Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Kochi, Kohima, Panaji, Shillong, Shimla, and Thiruvananthapuram on June 26 for Muharram.

Furthermore, banks across India will be closed on June 27 as it falls on the fourth Saturday of the month, which is a mandatory bank holiday under Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines.
