GIFT City Gandhinagar-based international stock exchange operator, NSE IFSC Limited (NSE IX), signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the London Stock Exchange (LSEG) to collaborate and explore cross-border growth and innovative listing and trading opportunities for both investors and issuers in both countries.
In an official filing on October 13, NSE IX announced the MoU update, which seeks to collaborate across several areas and allow cross-listings across products including equity, fixed income and ETFs.
Investors should know that the MoU deal seeks to bring existing financial products and also develop new products, which would then eventually be listed on NSE IX, using the FTSE Russell indices as the underlying asset.
This means, along with developing new products like derivatives for trading on NSE IX, the collaboration will also make certain existing financial products on LSEG likely available for Indian investors.
However, the details for the same have not been officially disclosed in the announcement.
“The collaboration will also consider the joint development of new equity indices, cross-border trading connectivity, and market data distribution,” as per the official statement.
As per the official filing, the cross-listing of products on NSE IX and LSEG is expected to connect the exchanges, leading to higher liquidity and an increased pool of investors in the market.
In the announcement, V. Balasubramaniam, the MD and CEO of NSE IX, said that this collaboration originated from the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) as the two countries aim to open new avenues in capital markets connectivity and financial services integration between London and India.
“We see this as a timely opportunity to deepen connectivity between the financial markets of the two countries,” said Balasubramaniam.
Both exchanges are looking at this MoU as creating a market opportunity for investors, deepening the capital markets in the process.
“The signing of this MoU marks the next step in our sustained efforts to connect two of the world's great capital markets, to create tangible benefits for the investors and companies we serve,” said Dame Julia Hoggett, CEO of London Stock Exchange and Head of Digital & Securities Markets, LSEG.
NSE IX or NSE IFSC is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) which operates the international stock exchange located at the GIFT City in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
All trades which are conducted through NSE IX are largely US dollar-denominated, allowing Indian investors to trade in global financial assets. The exchange also operates the GIFT NIFTY futures, which indicate the performance and cues ahead of NIFTY50’s opening.
NSE shares listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 1.5% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,780 apiece on Wednesday’s market, in comparison to ₹1,752 apiece at the previous market close, as per the exchange data.
TradingView data showed that NSE shares have risen 2.2% in the last five days, and the company’s shares were listed on the stock exchange last month in September 2026.
The company’s market capitalisation (m-cap) was at ₹4.36 lakh crore as of the trading close on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
