Emcure Pharmaceuticals made a strong debut on the stock exchanges on Wednesday, July 10, as the shares were listed at a 31% premium at ₹1,325.05 apiece on the NSE. Executive Director of Emcure Pharma and Shar Tank India investor Namita Thapar raked in around ₹168 crore with her company's remarkable debut.

Share of Emcure Pharmaceuticals opened at ₹1,325.05 apiece on the NSE, 31.45% higher than the issue price of ₹1,008 apiece. The pharma stock rallied as much as 4.52% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,385 apiece. However, the stock pared early gains amid profit booking and closed 2.95% higher at ₹1,364.2 apiece.

Namita Thapar gains ₹168 crore after premium listing of Emcure Pharma shares

Namita Thapar offloaded 12.68 lakh shares through offer-for-sale (OFS) component in the initial public offering (IPO) of the pharma company. Before Emcure Pharma's IPO launch, she owned over 63.39 lakh shares or a 3.5% stake in the company.

Through the share sale, she released 12,68,600 shares, and at the stock's listing price, she earned ₹168.01 crore (₹1,325.05x12,68,600).

Post the public issue, Namita Thapar’s shareholding in the company stands at 50,71,200 shares. At the current market price of the Emcure Pharma stocks, her stake in the company is worth nearly ₹692 crore (₹1,364.2 x 50,71,200).

Emcure Pharma IPO was open for subscription from July 3 to July 5. The public issue saw a strong demand from the investors with bids for over 92.99 crore shares compared to 1.37 crore shares on offer. The issue was subscribed 67.87 times.

Emcure Pharma specialises in the development, manufacturing, and global marketing of pharmaceutical products across various therapeutic areas. The company has a presence in nearly 70 countries and operates 13 manufacturing facilities across India.
