HPCL Q1 earnings: The oil and natural gas PSU, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), on Wednesday, July 22, reported its earnings for the April-June quarter of the 2026-27 financial year (Q1 FY27).

During the quarter under review, the company slipped into a loss, reporting a standalone net loss of ₹11,526.41 crore, compared with a profit of ₹4,901.50 in the preceding quarter, according to a regulatory filing.

“The performance reflects the impact of the ongoing West Asia crisis and also HPCL’s resilient performance on refining and marketing even in these challenging times,” the filing said.

However, its total income advanced by 21.34% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to ₹1.46 lakh crore in the first quarter of FY27, as against ₹1.21 lakh crore in the March quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year (Q4 FY26).

At an operational level, it reported an EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) loss of ₹14,860 crore for the reporting quarter, in comparison to the EBITDA profit of ₹4,967 crore in the preceding quarter.

Its refineries recorded crude throughput of 6.52 million metric tonnes (MMT) during Q1 FY27, marking a 2.8% QoQ decline from 6.48 MMT in the March quarter of FY26. It operated at 107% of its capacity during the quarter, the company added.

Its sales, including exports, stood at 13.12 MMT for the quarter, reflecting a 0.9% QoQ fall from 13 MMT in Q4 FY26.

The company’s capex for the quarter stood at ₹1,734 crore, with a focus on strengthening refining and marketing infrastructure, including investments in subsidiaries and joint venture companies to build additional capacities, new business lines and improve operating efficiencies.

As of June 30, 2026, its retail outlet count stood at 25,160, LPG distributors were at 6,391, and PNG Connections at 54,586.

Shares of HPCL closed 2.89% lower at ₹395.20 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday. However, the results were reported after the markets closed.
