Exide Industries Q2FY27 results

Supported by healthy demand during the quarter, the company posted a 20.3% rise in revenue from operations to ₹5,026 crore as compared to ₹4,178 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The growth was also driven by continued benefits of GST 2.0 reforms, a lower base, and stronger execution.

On the operational front, the earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) jumped 53% YoY to ₹606 crore for the period ended September 2026. The EBITDA for the corresponding quarter last year stood at ₹395 crore.

Similarly, the EBITDA margins for the quarter also expanded from 9.4% in Q2 of FY26 to 12.1% in Q2 of FY27. The margin expansion is largely driven by cost optimization and price hikes taken to offset the impact of cost inflation.

On the bottom line front, the company’s net profit soared 75.1% YoY to ₹386 crore as compared to ₹221 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Other key updates

The company’s press release read, “On a YoY basis, input costs remained elevated due to prolonged geopolitical challenges. On a QoQ basis, the full benefit of softer Lead LME and antimony prices could not be realized due to a weaker Rupee”.

Besides this, the company also said its liquidity position remains strong with zero debt and healthy cash flow generation.

The automotive segment delivered strong double-digit growth for the fourth consecutive year at 25% YoY. The company won new business deals for Exide auxiliary battery on both EV and PHEV for the MG Hector Tomahawk vehicle and Tata Aeris.

The two-wheeler and four-wheeler replacement business also delivered double-digit returns for the fourth quarter. Home inverters and Solar delivered 20%+ growth for the second quarter consecutively.

The company also invested ₹550 crore in equity of Exide Energy Solutions (EESL) between April and October 2026, making the total investment ₹5,352 crore in the subsidiary.

The company achieved another milestone as EESL also commissioned its 6 GWh lithium-ion cell battery facility on 23rd September.

Management commentary

Commenting on the performance, Mr. Avik Roy, MD & CEO, said: "We have sustained our growth momentum in the second quarter, with most of the businesses growing in double digits. Demand held up well across our end-markets, as the affordability benefits of GST rationalisation continued”.

Exide Industries share price performance

The shares have largely remained muted in 2026 and on a trailing-twelve-month basis. On a YTD basis, the shares turned positive on Wednesday at +2% returns, while continue to remain muted at -1.9% on a TTM basis.
