In the same quarter of the preceding fiscal year, the company had logged a profit of ₹13.89 crore, according to a regulatory filing.

Its consolidated revenue from operations jumped 7.5% YoY to ₹861.78 crore during the quarter under review, compared with ₹801.33 crore in the second quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year (Q2 FY26).

Bata’s top line grew despite the festive calendar largely deferring to the third quarter of the current fiscal year (Q3 FY27), the footwear company said in a press release.

The firm further stated that its one-offs for the quarter included non-cash forex loss on license fees amounting to ₹3 crore owing to continued currency devaluation and ₹3.9 crore towards one-time asset write-off.

The company’s store count stood at over 2,000, which included franchises. It also reported over 3,800 key retail outlets (KROs), which is optimising its network to drive footfall.

Its other income was lower due to ₹4.6 crore caused by a distribution of surplus funds of ₹321.3 crore during the quarter as a special dividend.

Its total expenses in the September quarter stood at ₹855.14 crore, up 7.53% YoY.

Bata India's total income, which includes other income, soared 6.9% to ₹879.83 crore in the second quarter of FY27.

In the first half (H1) of FY27, Bata India’s total consolidated income stood at ₹1,876.81 crore, up 5.34%.

What the management said

Commenting on the results, Sanjay S. Rao, Managing Director and CEO, Bata India, who took over from October 1, 2026, said: “On a quarterly basis, the growth momentum continued for the fourth consecutive quarter, with a top-line growth of over 7.5% in Q2FY27, robust LFL & ASP growth in Retail, and double-digit growth in Franchise and I&D channels.”

He further stated that its gross margin improved marginally, and operating performance continued to strengthen, adding that inventory improved in both quantity and quality, with freshness at 92% and net stock 7% lower than on September 30, 2025.

He said that zero base merchandising, now in 850 stores, has improved consumer experience and revenue per sq. ft. He added that despite higher input costs and wage revisions, freshness and prudent sourcing delivered its highest full-price sales and lower markdowns.

“We remain focused on profitable growth through premiumisation, network expansion, sharper assortment, volume growth, consumer engagement, operational excellence and disciplined capital allocation. With festive business shifting to Q3, we expect the growth momentum to continue,” Rao stated.

Shares of Bata India closed 1.89% higher at ₹649.80 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday, November 8. However, its results were declared after the market closed.

Bata India has a total market capitalisation of ₹8,351.72 crore, as of November 3, 2026, according to data on the NSE.
