GST collections rise 14.8% to ₹1.99 lakh crore in August

After refunds, net GST revenue increased 8.3% to ₹1,68,057 crore in August from ₹1,55,181 crore a year ago.

Domestic gross GST revenue grew 9.3% to ₹1,37,249 crore during the month, from ₹1,25,570 crore in August 2025.

GST revenue from imports jumped 29% to ₹62,604 crore from ₹48,546 crore a year earlier.

Refunds, however, surged 67.9% to ₹31,795 crore in August from ₹18,935 crore a year ago.

Domestic refunds rose 72.6% to ₹18,490 crore, while export GST refunds through ICEGATE increased 61.8% to ₹13,305 crore.

The data showed that net domestic GST revenue rose 3.4% to ₹1,18,759 crore, while net revenue from customs-related GST increased 22.3% to ₹49,299 crore.

Maharashtra recorded the highest GST collection at ₹28,779 crore in August, up 8% from ₹26,746 crore a year earlier.

Karnataka's collection rose 13% to ₹14,148 crore, while Gujarat recorded a 15% increase to ₹12,047 crore.

Uttar Pradesh's GST revenue rose 19% to ₹9,092 crore, while Delhi's increased 10% to ₹6,216 crore.

Assam recorded a 162% jump in GST revenue to ₹3,679 crore during the month, while Sikkim saw a 63% decline.

For the April-August period of FY27, gross GST collections stood at ₹10,42,757 crore, up 11% from ₹9,39,724 crore in the year-ago period.

Net GST revenue increased 9% to ₹8,89,523 crore from ₹8,15,939 crore.
