TCS data leak alert: IT firm says attackers claim potential employee data breach; will this impact customers?

India’s largest IT services and consultancy firm, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), said that the company has received threat-intelligence alerts alleging that there has been a breach of basic employee data, according to an exchange filing.

Although the attacks claimed that they used password spray and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) fatigue as the attack vector to allegedly carry out the data breach attack, the company has not found any credible evidence for the same.

“The company has investigated the matter and has not found any credible evidence of a breach of TCS systems or customer environments,” TCS informed the company through its filing.

As per the NSE filings, TCS said that the information in question appeared to be more than four years old and limited to the basic employee information in the IT firm.

Will it impact customers?

On Monday, TCS said that after the investigation, the company has found no indication that any customer data, customer systems, or the firm’s operational systems have been impacted by this alleged data breach.

The company said that it has had strong safeguards in place against such techniques and attacks for more than the last two years.

“Based on the current review, these controls remain effective, and the Company continues to monitor the environment closely,” TCS informed the stock exchange and investors.

However, the IT services company also said that it will continue to assess any new information that becomes available and take appropriate action if necessary, while remaining committed to maintaining the security and resilience of its systems and to protecting the information entrusted to the firm.

Gemini Experience Centre in Mexico

On Tuesday, August 11, TCS said that the company, in collaboration with Google Could has set up a new Gemini Experience Centre (GEC) in Mexico City, according to the NSE filing.

As per the exchange data, this marks the second GEC in Latin America, and the ninth experience centre in the world.

TCS said that this new facility will empower organisations in the region with advanced AI capabilities and help accelerate the development of solutions that drive innovation, productivity, and data-driven decision-making.

“Together with Google Cloud, we are creating a space for organisations to explore how technology can transform their operations and add greater value,” said Marcelo Wurmann, CEO of TCS Latin America.

TCS share price

TCS shares have lost 27% in the last five years was down 29% in the last three years, and have declined around 20% in the past one-year period, according to NSE data.

On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, the IT company shares have lost 24% in 2026, but the stock has gained 18% in the last one-month period, as per the exchange data. Tata Consultancy Services shares were down 0.8% in the last five trading sessions.

Shares of TCS surged to their 52-week high of ₹3,350 apiece on February 3, 2026, while the 52-week low was at ₹1,976.80 apiece on July 1, 2026. The company’s market capitalisation (m-cap) was at over ₹8.84 lakh crore as of the trading session on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
