Apple event highlights: Foldable iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, AirPods 5, new Watches

Apple on Wednesday unveiled a wide range of new products and features, including its first foldable iPhone Duo, the iPhone 18 Pro series, AirPods 5 and new Apple Watch models, in the first major product launch under new CEO John Ternus.

The company used its annual product event to showcase upgrades across its smartphone, audio and wearable lines, with a strong focus on camera capabilities, performance, battery life, health tracking and artificial intelligence.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, priced from ₹1,64,900 and ₹1,79,900 in India, respectively, feature a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, Apple's A20 Pro chip and a next-generation vapor chamber.

The Pro models will be available in India from September 18.

Apple also unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, which opens into a 7.6-inch display and has a 5.4-inch outer screen.

It starts at ₹2,99,900 in India, with pre-orders beginning October 16 and sales from October 23.

The company introduced AirPods 5 with Active Noise Cancellation, claiming up to 50% more external noise reduction than AirPods 4 with ANC, along with new audio features and Live Translation capabilities.

Apple launched also Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 with a new Health Sensing System, higher-frequency heart rate and heart rate variability measurements, and a new readiness score.

Artificial intelligence also featured across the new lineup, with Apple expanding Apple Intelligence and Siri AI capabilities across iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch.

The launches marked Ternus' first major product presentation since he took over as Apple's CEO from Tim Cook on September 1.

1. iPhone 18 Pro gets variable-aperture camera: Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max feature a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, giving users greater control over photography. The company has also added new Pro controls in the Camera app and upgrades to Photographic Styles and video capabilities.
2. A20 Pro chip targets higher performance and battery life: Both iPhone 18 Pro models are powered by Apple's A20 Pro chip and a next-generation vapor chamber designed to deliver higher sustained performance. Apple said the iPhone 18 Pro Max also delivers the biggest increase in battery life in iPhone history.
3. iPhone 18 Pro models start at ₹1,64,900 in India: The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₹1,79,900. Both models will be available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities and come in black, silver, glacier and new burgundy finishes.
4. Apple enters foldable phone market with iPhone Duo: The iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable iPhone and opens into a 7.6-inch display, the largest screen ever offered on an iPhone, while a 5.4-inch outer display allows it to be used when folded. Its design supports features such as outer-screen previews and hands-free video calls.

6. AirPods 5 bring ANC to open-ear design: Apple launched AirPods 5 with Active Noise Cancellation and a new multiport acoustic architecture. The company said the earbuds remove up to 50% more external noise than AirPods 4 with ANC, while an improved Transparency mode is designed to make nearby voices and sounds more natural.
7. AirPods 5 expand hands-free AI features: AirPods 5 work with Siri AI to provide hands-free access to personal context and information, while users can respond to Siri using head gestures. Apple is also bringing Live Translation to the earbuds, allowing users to communicate across languages.
8. Apple Watch Series 12 gets new health sensing system: Apple Watch Series 12 features the new Health Sensing System and S11 chip, enabling more frequent heart rate and heart rate variability measurements. The watch also introduces a new readiness score, while a redesigned Health app will later add a Longevity tab and Health Age feature.
9. Apple Watch Ultra 4 focuses on athletes and outdoor users: Apple Watch Ultra 4 adds the same new health-sensing capabilities while extending battery life for outdoor workouts to up to 45 hours. The company also said it offers its most accurate on-device GPS in a sports watch, with natural and black titanium finishes.
10. Apple expands AI across its device ecosystem: Apple Intelligence and Siri AI are being integrated more deeply across the new iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch lineup, with features designed to use personal context. Apple said the updates are intended to turn its devices into more intelligent personal hubs for communication, health, fitness and everyday tasks.
