Marico to report a marginal profit growth
India’s largest hair oil maker Marico anticipates marginal growth in profits in the fourth quarter of FY22. Its revenue grew in single digits in the period, while the volumes were marginally positive on an exceptionally high base.
Due to inflation and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, the FMCG category has been hit and Marico is no exception. For the Parachute brand, volumes were marginally lower year-on-year. Meanwhile, the Saffola brand witnessed growth in the high teens in value terms, while the premium personal care segment saw a double-digit growth.
NTPC and Gujarat Gas to blend green hydrogen with PNG
NTPC and Gujarat Gas have joined hands to blend green hydrogen with piped natural gas (PNG). This green hydrogen will be produced from electricity generated from an existing 1 MW floating solar project of NTPC Kawas power plant in Surat, Gujarat.
This will be blended with the PNG that is supplied by Gujarat Gas. It will be used for cooking in the NTPC Kawas township. The project will be the first of its kind in India and is aimed to help decarbonise cooking and to achieve self-sufficiency in energy requirements.
EVs contribute to almost half of the three-wheeler sales in FY22
According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), electric vehicles contributed about 45% to the overall three-wheeler (3W) retail sales in FY22. Bajaj Auto, which is yet to enter the 3W EV space, led the 3W market with 1.35 lakh units sold in the year.
Meanwhile, EV retail sales in other segments were almost negligible, with two-wheeler (2W) EVs constituting less than 2% of total 2W sales, while EV passenger vehicles forming 0.6% of the total.
