Government approves fertiliser subsidy
The government has approved a subsidy worth ₹61,000 crore for phosphate-based fertilisers. The subsidy hike will enable farmers to purchase soil nutrients at affordable and reasonable prices ahead of the Kharif sowing season.
The decision to increase fertiliser subsidies from ₹1,650 to ₹2,500 per bag was taken to absorb the impact of rising raw material prices due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and a substantial rise in energy prices.
Palm oil prices rise
Palm oil prices surged 10% as leading producer Indonesia plans an export ban on certain products related to palm oil. Meanwhile, soyabean oil prices touched a fresh high.
Amid the rising prices, shares of edible oil makers in India are rising. Adani Wilmar was locked in the 5% upper circuit at the end of the day, while Patanjali-owned Ruchi Soya's shares closed 6.5% higher.
