Closing bell

Today, the Indian markets fell for the second day in a row, taking cues from major Asian indices, which also closed lower. The skepticism may be stemming from the spurt in fresh cases in the Asia-Pacific region. Russia is already seeing a sharp rise in cases this month, which is being referred to as the country’s third wave. Meanwhile, the European indices are trading higher today, and a sustained economic revival in the developed nations could augur well for export-oriented sectors such as IT and pharma.
