Hindustan Unilever September 2021 Results

India’s largest fast moving consumer goods company, Hindustan Unilever (HUL), posted its September quarter (Q2FY22) results on Tuesday, 19 October 2021.

HUL’s standalone revenues (topline) stood at ₹12,516 crore, up 11% year-on-year. The company’s operating margins stood at 25% which was nearly the same as that of the same quarter last year. The company’s standalone net profit stood at ₹2,187 crore, up 9%  year-on-year. Its revenue & profits were nearly in line with the street estimates.

HUL has three key business segments. First, the Home Care segment, which includes products like Surf Excel, Vim bar, etc. Second, is the Beauty & Personal Care segment, which includes soaps like Lux, Dove & Lifebuoy. And third, the Food & Refreshment segment, which includes products like Horlicks & Red Label.

Revenue growth was driven by the Home Care segment, which grew 16% year-on-year.

The company believes that the higher commodity prices can put pressure on the company's margins going forward.

In the current financial year, the company's share price has risen by 5%. On the other hand, the Nifty50 Index has risen by almost 25%, which shows that Hindustan Unilever has underperformed as compared to the Nifty50.
