A planetary parade, which is a rare occurrence, is set to happen in January 2025. Six planets will align in the skies and four of them will be visible to the naked eye.
Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus will be seen aligning starting a few days before January 21. Only Uranus and Neptune will need a telescope to be observed!
Venus, Saturn and Neptune will be seen most clearly after sunset but will move lower gradually and be out of sight by midnight.
Mars, Jupiter and Uranus will be visible all night clearly and Mars will set just before sunrise, moving below the horizon.
The best time to watch these events will be around 8:30 pm. Notably, Mercury will also join the lineup later, giving us a chance to witness a brief seven-planet parade.
However, watching the seven planets together would be tough as Saturn, Mercury and Neptune would be too close to the Sun when it sets, making it difficult to observe.
While the phenomenon is expected to last for a month, between January 21 and February 21, the second week around January 29 will offer the best views.
The parade is expected to be visible in many parts of the world including the US, Mexico, Canada, North America and India. The view will fade starting in early March.
