Supermoon Blue Moon: A celestial spectacle

What is a Supermoon?
According to NASA, A Supermoon occurs when the Moon is within 90% of its closest approach to Earth, making it appear larger and brighter than usual.

What is a Blue Moon?
The term “Blue Moon” has nothing to do with the colour of the Moon. Since this full Moon is the third full Moon in a season with four full Moons, it is referred to as a Blue Moon.

To witness this rare event, simply look for the full Moon in the night sky on August 19. No special equipment is needed, just find a spot with a clear view of the Moon. 

When is the next Supermoon?
This is the first of four consecutive Supermoons this year. The next Supermoon is expected to occur on September 17, 2024.
