Paralympics are a series of international multi-sport events for athletes with disabilities.
Paralympics are held every 2 years, usually after the Olympic Games in the same host city.
The 17th edition of the Summer Paralympics is being held in Paris from 28 August to 8 September 2024.
This is the first time Paris is hosting the Summer Paralympics.
More than 4,400 athletes from 128 countries are participating in almost 550 events across 22 sports.
There are 10 classifications based on disabilities including physical, vision and intellectual disabilities.
Athletes are assigned categories based on the “degree of activity limitation resulting from their impairments.”
The opening ceremony for the Paris Paralympics 2024 was held on August 28 and was live streamed on the Games’ official YouTube channel.
